# Frequently asked questions

## I cannot log in

Your email address may not be verified yet. Verify it from the confirmation email you received after signing up (you cannot log in until it is verified). If the email did not arrive, you can have it resent from the login screen.

## No requirement cards are being generated

Check that there is enough material in knowledge. If the meeting notes or documents are too short, there may be nothing worth extracting. If nothing is generated even from long text, it may be an AI usage limit or a connection problem.

## I cannot see the other projects

That is by design. member / guest see **only the projects they have joined**. Ask to be added to the project you want to look at (owner / admin can view every project). See [Members and permissions](https://pmonrails.com/en/docs/members.md).

## The burn-down is not moving

Check that the sprint in question is **in progress** (start date ≤ today ≤ end date, and not cancelled). Sprints that are not in progress do not record progress snapshots. Tasks also have to be linked to the sprint through a story.

## Similar requirement cards do not show up straight away

Similarity search is based on vector embeddings, and there is a lag of a few seconds right after something is created. Wait a moment and try again.

## Will the AI change my data without asking?

It will not. Creating and changing always goes through a confirmation card, and nothing is rewritten until you press Run ([AI assistant](https://pmonrails.com/en/docs/ai-assistant.md)).

## Can I import Excel files too?

Yes. `.docx` (Word) and `.xlsx` (Excel) are converted to Markdown on import (up to 20MB; the original file is not stored).

## I want to work from Claude Web / Claude Code / Codex

Connect Claude Web by adding a custom connector, and Claude Code with `pm-on-rails login` and `pm-on-rails mcp install`. For other tools, issue a PAT under "Personal settings → Integrations" and configure it. You can then create and update requirement cards, stories, scenarios and tasks, follow traceability, run similarity search and more ([Claude Web, Claude Code, and MCP integration](https://pmonrails.com/en/docs/mcp.md)).

## What can I do with the GitHub integration?

The main path is managing and building from Claude Web / Claude Code / Codex over MCP. As a secondary feature, the GitHub integration writes user stories out as issues, links pull requests to tasks, and updates the task and its parent story automatically on merge. Connect the GitHub App in Workspace settings > Integrations > GitHub, then choose the repository in Project settings > Integrations > GitHub ([GitHub integration](https://pmonrails.com/en/docs/github.md)).

## Does this lock me into a vendor?

It is designed not to. Stories and design documents can be taken out as Markdown. User stories can also be exported as GitHub issues. And because MCP lets Claude Web / Claude Code / Codex work on the same graph, you are not confined to the PM on Rails screens and can connect it to your existing development environment.

## I am not sure how to read the search results (the AI's answers)

Answers from the AI assistant come with the requirement cards and stories they are based on, attached as **cited sources**. Citations are taken from the real data that is stored, so you can follow the source and verify it ([AI assistant](https://pmonrails.com/en/docs/ai-assistant.md)).

## I am not sure of the difference between a requirement card and a requirement

A requirement card is the stakeholder's "this is what we want"; a requirement is the engineer's technical proposal, "then this is how we will build it". See [the basic vocabulary](https://pmonrails.com/en/docs/concepts.md) for details.
