# Processing status and history (background processing)

Time-consuming work runs as a **background job** rather than blocking the screen. You can carry on with something else while it runs, and the results are reflected when it finishes.

## What runs as a job

- **Audio and video transcription** — Transcribing an uploaded file.
- **Requirement card generation** — Extracting requirement cards from meeting notes in bulk.
- **Ingest through to requirement generation** — Running everything from the upload to the requirement cards end to end.
- **Bulk AI review of stories** — Reviewing the stories filtered in the list all together. The work continues even if you close the screen, and once it finishes you can open the results from 'Past AI reviews'.
- **Bulk export / bulk push** — Turning stories into GitHub issues in bulk, or reflecting the latest content into issues that are already connected.

## Checking how far it has got

- The 'Processing status and history' screen shows the state, **running / complete / failed**, and the progress (%).
- Each job's detail shows which step it has reached and the results it produced.
- For a failed job you can check the cause and run it again.

> Offloading heavy work to jobs means you can keep operating the screen while a transcription or a large requirement extraction is still running. The processing runs on a separate mechanism from the screen, so it keeps going even if you leave the page.
